On his YouTube channel “We love HiFi”, former Audio editor-in-chief Andreas Eichelsdörfer reviews the Canor Virtus A3 integrated amplifier and is “truly impressed by its build quality, design and sound”:
“Now to the sound. The Virtus A3 sounded fantastic and absolutely faultless across all genres of music. The name Virtus does bring ‘virtuoso’ to mind, and I believe that is also this amplifier’s great strength: it performs with real finesse and liveliness, while bringing a certain warmth. It is neither coldly analytical nor dominated by the typical valve warmth or that lush valve sound. The Canor really does skilfully combine the best of all worlds.”
And it does that superbly, because you really can enjoy fantastic listening at low volumes, and at high volumes too. The Virtus A3 has plenty in reserve, but it is not heavy-handed. Its strength lies in very well-controlled bass – so this is an amplifier particularly for lovers of classical music, jazz and singer-songwriters.
Of course, you can also listen to metal on it – or rock from the ’70s. There you get plenty of guitars, distortion and what have you. That makes it all the more important that the whole system performs cleanly; otherwise, you won’t enjoy it, especially as these are often not the best recordings either.
This was the first Canor component I’ve had here for review. I am truly impressed by its build quality, design and sound.”
