The American online magazine audiophilia.com tested the Epos ES-7N compact speakers in January 2025 and summarized succinctly, due to their universal versatility and lifelike, dynamic sound: “highly recommended.”
“The cabinet is well-built and proved inert during the knock test. The clarity of the sound across every genre played was a testament to its excellent design. Once again, Epos took the effort to equip the cabinet with internal bracing to prevent unwanted resonance.
The small bookshelf speaker impresses with its power handling and its ability to deliver a natural soundstage. The monitor performs its task brilliantly, allowing the listener to enjoy masterful music reproduction. The ultimate crescendo sound effects in Breathe from The Dark Side of the Moon and Alan Parsons’ analog rendition of multiple clocks in Time were particularly impressive. The ES-7Ns delivered a wide and deep soundstage with excellent imaging.
Even with bass drum hits, the Epos provided a convincing and impactful performance. No explosions, but a very good effect from such a small box. Regardless of genre, voices, or instruments, the ES-7N’s dynamics never disappointed, with the added benefit of outstanding imaging.”
Conclusion
With the ES-7N, experienced designer Karl-Heinz Fink has added a second trump card to his Epos product line. I’m already looking forward to testing the ES-28N floor-standing speakers. If you have a budget of $4500, you should check out the ES-14N, which also received a star from Audiophilia. But for $2195, Epos now offers the ES-7N, a very attractive and well-crafted small speaker that sounds excellent regardless of the room. Highly recommended.
